This Week in FMC Ice Sports – March 19-25, 2018

With hockey season ending, there are lots of different events at FMC Ice Sports’ rinks, including figure skating, curling, and broomball.

FMC Broomball – East Boston

Looking for something fun, different, or new to do on Friday night? Stop by Porrazzo Rink in East Boston for some Broomball!

Admission is just $10 for a night full of games. Remember to bring a helmet. Broomball takes place every Friday night starting at 9:30. Hurry now as Broomball only runs until March 30!

Figure Skating Shows – Fitchburg & Gardner

The Wallace Figure Skating Club will be holding its annual show on Saturday, March 24, 2018. The theme of this year’s show is “Bright Lights, Big Cities”. Showtime is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Wallace Figure Skating Club’s mission is to encourage instruction, practice and advancement of its skating members in all types of figure skating.

On Sunday, March 25, 2018, the FMC Club Figure Skating team in Gardner will host its Spring Show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The annual Gardner exhibition is the first spring show of the season for the FMC Clubs. Shows will continue through mid-July.

Learn to Curl – Hopedale

The Blackstone Valley Curling Club will be hosting “Beijing 2022 or Bust: Learn to Curl” on March 24 at Blackstone Valley IcePlex. Learn to Curl events run approximately 2 hours and are available for participants aged 13 & up. These events are $35 a person and sell out quickly, so don’t hesitate to sign up now.

It’s been an historic year for curling following the recent Winter Olympics. And with curling fever at an all-time high, what a great opportunity this is for interested people to learn how to curl.

New England Future Stars Corner

12 Franchises Hold Tryouts This Week

It’s the busiest week of New England Future Stars Tryouts this year, with twelve franchises holding tryout sessions this week.

The Boston Brahmas, North Shore Stingrays, Raynham Raiders, Blackstone Valley Barons, Marlboro Thunder, and South Shore Sabercats will be holding tryouts for their Girls U14, Girls 16/19, and Boys Varsity teams this week. The Canton Crusaders will also be holding three sessions this week for its Boys 14U, Girls 16/19, and Boys Varsity squads.

Girls-only franchise Southeastern Grizzlies will have tryouts for its Girls U14 and Girls 16/19 teams on Tuesday of this week. This will be the only Varsity session for the Grizzlies this tryout season.

Four franchises will be holding tryouts for just one team this week. The Central Mass Cobras, Norfolk County Hawks, and South Middlesex Coyotes will be holding Boys Varsity tryouts for the only time this season. The Natick Chill will be holding Boys 14U Tryouts at Pirelli Veteran’s Arena in Franklin on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Mites Cross-Ice Registration

Brand new this season, registration is NOW OPEN for the Mites Cross-Ice program coming summer 2018. The South Shore Sabercats, Boston Brahmas, and brand new Canton Crusaders will all carry Mites Cross-Ice programs this season.

There is a limited amount of only 60 spots per team, so register now while there’s still space. The program is designed to help Mite-level players develop with the help of experienced coaching and top competition. Spots are filling up fast!
