It’s another busy week around the rink, loaded with Future Stars tryouts and FMC Ice Sports’ final themed public skate of the season.

Spring I Programming Registration Pro-Rate – Select Rinks

The offer is only valid at rinks holding a full season of Spring I Programming. Those rinks with abbreviated seasons due to seasonal rink closures are already holding discounted courses and are therefore not eligible for the prorate discount.

St. Patrick’s Day Skate – All Rinks except Burlington & Holyoke

From Friday, March 16th to Sunday, March 18th, FMC Ice Sports will be hosting a weekend-long St. Patrick’s Day Public Skate event at most of its arenas. Have a shamrocking time at this special public skate, where you will have the chance to win prizes and giveaways. For specific times and dates for the themed skate, check with your local rink.

General admission is $5 per person and rental skates are available for an additional $5 on a first-come, first-served basis.

DCR Universal Access Program – East Boston and Worcester

The DCR Universal Access Program will be hosting a pair of Adaptive Skating & Games Session this week. On Tuesday, Porrazzo Rink in East Boston will hold an Adaptive Skating & Games session from 11:30 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Buffone Arena in Worcester will close out the season with an Adaptive Skating session from 10-11:50 a.m.

Activities on the ice include obstacle courses, a tower of blocks for building up and crashing down, races, colorful balls and pucks to shoot around, power chair games, and gently competitive hockey matches.

Ice sleds, skate walkers, helmets, ice grippers, and ice skates are available. Admission and equipment are provided free of cost. Pre-registration is required. To sign up call (413) 545-5759 or email laila.soleimani@state.ma.us.

New England Future Stars Corner

Tryouts Continue this Week!

Tryouts for the upcoming New England Future Stars season continue this week, with eight more franchises holding sessions this week.

The Norfolk County Hawks, Marlboro Thunder, Blackstone Valley Barons, Central Mass Cobras, and Boston Brahmas will be holding tryouts for the 10U, 12U, and Boys 14U teams this week. New franchise Canton Crusaders will also be holding the second sessions for its 10U, 12U, and Girls U14 tryouts. These are the final tryout sessions for all these franchises’ teams.

In Beverly, the Essex County Eels will hold four tryout sessions for the 10U, 12U, Boys 14U, and Girls U14 teams. It’s the first Girls U14 tryout for the Eels this season and the final session for the 10U, 12U, and Boys 14U teams. And in Natick, the Chill will host sessions for its 12U, Girls U14, and Boys 14U teams. These are Natick’s first Boys 14U and Girls U14 tryouts and its final tryout session for the 12U team.

Mites Cross-Ice Registration

Brand new this season, registration is OPEN for the Mites Cross-Ice program coming summer 2018. The South Shore Sabercats, Boston Brahmas, and the brand new Canton Crusaders will all carry Mites Cross-Ice programs this season.

There is a limited amount of only 60 spots per team, so register now while there’s still space. The program is designed to help Mite-level players develop with the help of experienced coaching and top competition. Spots are filling up fast!
