Summer Adaptive Skating and Beachside BBQ
Thank you to DCR Universal Access Program for this glowing message! We are proud to support such a wonderful and inclusive program! Great job by Mark Squillacioti, FMC Porrazzo Arena General Manager, and his staff!
“Question: What do you get when you combine adaptive ice skating, grilled burgers and hot dogs, an accessible beach, lawn games, and airplanes taking off from Logan International Airport??
Answer: UAP’s incredible Summer Adaptive Skating and Beachside BBQ at Porrazzo Skating Arena on Constitution Beach in E. Boston!!
Sound too good to be true? Well these photos from Monday’s program are proof that this dream is real.
We run this special summer program every year and, thanks to the recycling collection efforts of the rink manager, FMC Ice Sports staff host the BBQ portion.
Do we have fun?!? Everyone has different favs-some love dressing up, some love eating, some love skating, some love getting out of the city and hanging on the beach, and some love watching the airplanes take off!! We even have a Zamboni lover who stays late to watch the ice get resurfaced! Whatever makes you “oooh” and “awww” we have at this event and groups/families come for one portion or relax and stay for the full experience.
Big time thank you to all the volunteers and FMC staff who helped us make these summer smiles happen… ” – DCR Universal Access Program
