JV-2023-CHAMPS

2022/2023 Fitchburg JV League

The FMC Ice Sports 2022/2023 Fitchburg JV league had a successful hockey season!

Congratulations to LAS (Lunenburg/Ayer/Shirley) JV team, who are the reigning 1st place champions!!

There were 9 teams from surrounding towns with a total of 8 teams competing every Sunday, at the Wallace Civic Center, with one team having a bye each week. Teams included Fitchburg/Monty Tech, Lunenberg/Ayer/Shirley, North Middlesex, Greater Lowell/Nashoba Tech (2 teams), Gardner/Murdock, Leominster, Littleton/Bromfield and Oakmont.

Jeff Thomas, Arena Manager for the rink, takes great pride in the league and devotes a display case in the lobby for stats and pictures each week. “Attendance to these games is pretty good and the crowd gets very vested into their teams’ games. My favorite is when you see the JV teams come in and they drop their stuff off in the locker room and then come running upstairs to check where they now stand on the individual stats sheet of the league“ says Jeff.

Jeff also credits his son for being an integral part of the success, “last year my son started taking over the scoreboard duties and he loves doing stats!! He updates all of them diligently each week, this year he added goalie stats!”.

Mike Flaherty, FMC Ice Sports Hockey Director, said “Jeff treats all the teams very well and takes a lot of pride in this league and makes the kids/fans/parents all feel like the kids are getting a varsity game experience.”

We’d like to extend a special thank you to Jeff Thomas and a big thank you to all the JV teams who took part in the league this year, from the players to the coaches to the families there to cheer everyone on! It would not have been a success without all of you!

We look forward to welcoming you all back next year for the 2023-2024 hockey season!
