Battle of the Badges at Connery Arena

More than 700 people packed the Connery Arena in Lynn on March 30th to watch the Lynn Police Department take on the Lynn Fire Department in a Battle of the Badges event.

According to an article on Item Live* by Joey Barrett, “Money raised from the event went to Children’s Special Olympics, as well as Probation Officer Jeff January, who suffered third-degree burns in a house fire.

We weren’t really sure how much money we would raise. We were thinking maybe $5,000 or $6,000,” Liberge said. “But we started doing raffles, game tickets, pucks, and, I think, after last night the total was around $15,000… It looks like we jumped up to that number, which is way more than we ever could have imagined.”

It’s been 10 years since Lynn Police and Lynn Fire squared off and the Fire Department put on quite a show with an 8-1 win over the PD. Regardless of the outcome it was a game that brought the community together on a Saturday night full of camaraderie and the good of others.

Congratulations on a successful event!
