Meet the Hockey Staff

Read below about our administrative hockey staff who will be taking on the development of Bruins FUNdamentals, the 2018 season of New England Future Stars, and more as FMC Hockey looks ahead to grow participation of the sport with more opportunities to play than ever.

 

Mike Flaherty – Director of Hockey Programs

Mike Flaherty joined FMC in September 2017. Prior to FMC, Flaherty was Director of Hockey at The Bog and Associate Director of the Bay State Breakers Youth Hockey Program for 7 years. He played at Rockland High School (83-87) and collegiately at University of Connecticut (87-91) captaining both teams in his senior seasons. Flaherty has coached Mites through Juniors over the last 20 years and is currently in his tenth season as the Head Coach at Rockland High. In 2012, he was named NIHOA South Shore Chapter Coach of the Year and twice named South Shore League Coach of the Year (2014-15 and 2016-2017). Flaherty is a USA Level 4 certified coach and is currently the lead skills instructor for the Bay State Breakers. He’s a lifelong resident of Rockland and lives there with his wife Lisa and 2 children.


Dan Scott – Hockey Leagues Coordinator 

A Pembroke native, Dan Scott played four years of varsity hockey at Silver Lake Regional High School, where was named Head Coach in 2016. In addition to his experience playing and coaching for the Lakers, Scott also played junior hockey for the Bridgewater Bandits, then continued to play at Plymouth State University while he worked on his degree. When a spinal injury ended his playing days, he dove further into coaching, adding New England College Development, Derby Academy, Bridgewater State University, Walpole Express, Oliver Ames, and Xaverian Brothers High School to his coaching resume. He currently lives in Easton with his wife Lauren and two kids Ethan and Eloise.


Charlie Murphy – Hockey Intern

Charlie Murphy joined the hockey department as an intern in early January. Charlie is from Hanson, Massachusetts and is currently a senior at Springfield College, planning to graduate in May. He is currently studying Sports Management for a Bachelor of Science while also minoring in Business Management. Murphy is the captain and Co-President of the Springfield College Club Ice Hockey Team. Previous to playing at Springfield College, Charlie played for the Bay State Breakers out of Rockland, Massachusetts.
