Featured Rink: Aleixo Arena – Taunton, Ma.
The Aleixo Arena located in Taunton, Massachusetts is FMC Ice Sports’ Featured Rink for the Month of April. Step inside and take a virtual tour of the rink.
Aleixo Arena is a Commonwealth of Massachusetts public ice skating facility overseen by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). The rink is located at 150 Hon. Gordon Owen Riverway in Taunton, Massachusetts. Aleixo opened in 1973 and has been operated by FMC Ice Sports since 2007.
Accommodations at the arena include a lobby snack bar, a party room overlooking the rink, four team locker rooms, and a SPARX Skate Sharpener. From experienced skaters to those just looking to learn, the rink offers an extensive variety of skating programs and classes for all ages.
The rink is home to the Southeastern Grizzlies of the New England Future Stars league. There are also many other teams that use the rink as well, including:
- Taunton High School
- Brewins Youth Hockey Organization
- Tri-County Saints Youth Hockey Organization
- Skating Club of Southern New England
Chad Amaral is the Rink Manager at Aleixo and is in his 11th year with the company. Originally from Fall River, Chad has worked several different roles for the company. He began working as a part-time Facility Operator at Raynham IcePlex before assuming his role in Taunton.
Chad volunteers as a hockey coach at Driscoll Arena in Fall River. He has also done volunteer work with another Aleixo user group, Home-School Skating. Chad has opened the arena doors to the organization which has since visited for bi-weekly skating sessions.
The arena has hosted several famous skaters in the past. Aleixo was once the host for Boston Bruins Alumni games. In addition, was the local rink for 2018 Hobey Baker Award nominee and current NHLer Adam Gaudette.
Aleixo was one of the first arenas FMC Ice Sports took over and remains committed to making the community a better place one skater at a time.

Sunday: 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Monday: 2 – 4 p.m.
Tuesday: 2 – 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 12 – 4 p.m.
Thursday: 2 – 4 p.m.
Friday: 12 – 4 p.m.
