Taking the next skating step

FMC Figure Skating Club Group Class skaters stride into the skating spotlight at the Icicle Invitational competition on 12/3/16.

Skaters from the FMC Figure Skating Club Group Classes in Brockton, Fall River, Franklin and Plymouth took the next “stride” in their skating by competing in the Icicle Invitational competition held at the Navin Ice Arena in Marlboro, MA on December 3, 2016. For many, this was their first competitive experience and first solo performance in front of an audience.

FROM THE ARMSTRONG ICE ARENA IN PLYMOUTH

Isabel Quattromani, Ava Passerello and Kathryn Lindsey had been skating in the Club’s Group Class for a few seasons and wanted to do a little more with their skating. The FMC Figure Skating Club’s Bronze Membership level of the South Shore region packaged together a Competition Specialty class to learn about competition preparation and events, with the Group Class which focuses on skills and finally Bonus Bucks which could be used for FMC events and merchandise. Isabel, Ava and Kathryn used those tools to become officially tested for the Ice Skating Institute’s Pre Alpha & Alpha levels and then compete at the Icicle Invitational wearing FMC Plymouth team jackets. Here they are pictured below with the Program Coordinator Janet Black and sister Leah. Great job, Ladies!

FROM DRISCOLL ARENA IN FALL RIVER & ASIAF ARENA IN BROCKTON

Bridget O’Neil and Charlie Harrison in Fall River and Jenna Hauvuy in Brockton all enjoyed their FMC Figure Skating Club Group but wanted to see what performing was all about. In addition to their FMC Figure Skating Club Group classes, they used the FMC One On One program to test out individual lessons and the work/skating required to perform. All enjoyed the program very much and moved onto private lessons (lessons coordinated directly with a private coach) where they put the final touches and polish needed to compete. Below are pictures of Bridget, Charlie and Coach Gigi Kerrigan and Jenna at the competition. Congratulations on your hard work!

PIRELLI VETERAN’S ARENA IN FRANKLIN

For several years and seasons, skaters in Franklin have had the opportunity to learn about performing and competing through Performance Essentials and Synchronized Skating classes. This year, four skaters, Allison McGrath, age 10, Paul McGrath, age 8, Emma Meier, age 9, and Avalyn Butt, age 8, followed this path to the Icicle Invitational competition. For Paul and Emma, this would be their first competition. All competed in Solo events which incorporate the skills of a level with choreography and presentation criteria into a program set to music. Emma and Avalyn also participated in Spotlight events which, also set to music, focus on entertainment with props and costumes. Picture below, these four amazing skaters have much to be proud of!
