At FMC Ice Sports, we want skating to be a positive experience in your life.
Skating is great exercise, a fun social activity and a sport that can teach life
lessons. We have several programs that can benefit young and old, beginner and
advanced and everything in between. Learn to Skate classes will prepare you to continue on into hockey or ice skating.
Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the class
start time to allow plenty of time to get skates on and to get organized into
your proper class level. It is recommended that skaters wear comfortable layers
that allow for movement with long sleeves and pants, gloves or mittens. Helmets,
such as a bike helmet or HECC helmet, are required. Rental skates are available
first come, first serve basis and are included in the class fee. You are welcome
to bring your own skates. Please note, double blade skates are not permitted.
Each Learn to Skate class level is designed to teach a specific set of
skills geared toward basic movement, coordination and balance on the ice.
These skills help skaters enjoy future recreational visits to the ice arena
safely or pursue skating endeavors successfully. It is important that the
level progression is followed and for skaters to demonstrate skills
efficiently to staff before advancing. Instructors will evaluate students
and give progress reports to skaters at the end of each session.

Testimonials
"Very impressed
with the instructors level of maturity, enthusiasm and enjoyment in the
teaching/learning process. Ms. Sarah and especially Ms. Stephanie were truly
wonderful and left a noticeable impression on my boys.”

"I
thought everyone was very nice and encouraging to my son. He absolutely loved
going to skate every week and talked about it all week long. He went from not
knowing how to stand on skates off the ice to standing up and making it across
the rink once before the session ended. It made us as parents so proud!"
